Reds pile more misery on Arsenal

Wednesday 5 January 2011

Nigel De Jong attempts to halt Cesc Fabregas at Eastlands in October

With Manchester city having an impressive record of only one loss in their last five matches and none in their last five away matches, does Arsenal have what it takes to step into the second spot in the premier league table. Will the Arsenal defence withstand the the fighting power of Carlos Tevez who already has 12 goals to his name, this makes him the second highest goal scorer in the 2010-11 premier league season. The gunners despite their porous defence lately, have managed to remain in the third place on the table. Will Wenger concentrate on the area of strength (midfield and attack) or allow for last minute sleep off's, what is it going to be?

Netherlands 0 - 1 Spain

Well deserved Victory!! The Octopus said it all.
in reference to:
"In a game when a record number of yellow cards were given and John Heitinga was sent off in extra-time, both sides missed great chances from Arjen Robben and Cesc Fabregas, but Andres Iniesta netted in the 116th minute to give European champions Spain their first World Cup title."

Germany 0-1 Spain

The Spanish team were at their best against the prolific German side to earn a well deserved spot at the 2010 World cup final!
in reference to:
"Whatever the outcome at Soccer City on Sunday, there will be history made with a new name on the Trophy after Spain produced their best performance of these finals to end Germany's hopes of an eighth Final appearance and secure their first. Joachim Low’s men, by contrast, missing the suspended Thomas Muller, were unable to repeat the scintillating displays with which they swept aside England and Argentina and, as in 2006, suffered the anguish of semi-final defeat."

Uruguay 2 - 3 Netherlands

First time winner?
in reference to:
"Netherlands verdict: The Dutch may have stuttered at times but they were the better side. That said, Netherlands still have room for improvement ahead of a World Cup final against either Germany or Spain. Robben may be allowed a little more freedom in that game, which could hold the key to the Dutch triumphing for the first time."

Nadal # 1

Defending his title!!
in reference to:
"NADAL WINS, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4: Is he down? Has he sunk? Does he sleep with all the fishes? The Berdych battleship lists to love-30, courtesy of a devastating pass from the Spaniard. He makes one last attempt, hauling himself back up to 40-30. But the legs are gone and the brain is soup, and a moment later it's match point Nadal"

Saturday 3 July 2010

Argentina 0 - 4 Germany

Interesting!!!
in reference to:
"Argentina were buried thanks to a third-minute goal from Thomas Muller and two second-half efforts from Miroslav Klose either side of one from Arne Friedrich. Even Diego Maradona would had appreciated it had he not been in the opposite dug-out. An imperious masterclass from a side on the march."

Friday 2 July 2010

Netherlands 2 - 1 Brazil

Samba boys head home!!
in reference to:
"Robinho, who had already had an effort ruled out for offside, fired the Brazilians ahead with just ten minutes gone, and the Dutch struggled to cope during the opening 45 minutes. But Felipe Melo's 53rd-minute own goal gave them fresh impetus and Sneijder won it 22 minutes from time as Melo was dismissed for stamping on Arjen Robben."

Uruguay (4)1 - 1(2) Ghana

Good Job Ghana, you made Africa proud!!
in reference to:
"Uruguay's Luis Suarez had used his hands to keep out a header in the last minute of extra-time but his red card will be no solace to the Black Stars after Asamoah Gyan's spot-kick hit the bar and Uruguay triumphed in the shoot-out."

Brazil 3 - 0 Chile

Prospects!!
in reference to:
"The boys in the famous yellow and blue were in control from virtually the first whistle and goals by Juan, Luis Fabiano and Robinho confirmed their status as tournament favourites. It has been no easy run for Brazil - they emerged from a 'Group of Death' unscathed and with reputations enhanced, and on this evidence the Dutch will need to summon up the spirits of past greats if they are to challenge Dunga's men."

Sunday 27 June 2010

Argentina 3 - 1 Mexico

In top shape to lift the trophy!!
in reference to:
"For Argentina, Messi, still looking for his first goal of the tournament, had two efforts from similar positions on the left of the area, but one was blocked and the other easily held by Oscar Perez. Messi should perhaps have passed to an unmarked team-mate - maybe that elusive goal was haunting him."

Germany 4-1 England

England's worst ever world cup defeat!

Saturday 26 June 2010

United States 1 - 2 Ghana

Ghana making Africa proud!!
in reference to:
"It was the second time in successive World Cups that Ghana had defeated the United States, having effectively dumped them out of the tournament four years ago by beating them in the final group game."
Ghana hit them with a devastating early burst just as they had done at the start of normal time, and the USA could not come back again once Asamoah Gyan's powerful strike beat Tim Howard for a second time. The host continent's last remaining representatives now go on to face Uruguay in the quarter-finals, and on this showing they may even have a chance, as long as they can tidy up their finishing and learn to score ordinary goals as well as spectacular ones.- World Cup Match Results: United States vs Ghana - FIFA World Cup 2010 - ESPN Soccernet (view on Google Sidewiki)

Chile 1 - 2 Spain

Still in the game!!

North Korea 0 - 3 Ivory Coast

Brilliantly too late!!
in reference to:
"The Africans had 14 shots, 10 on target, as they dominated the first half and sensed an unlikely chance to reach the last 16. But North Korea, fearing more humiliation after their 7-0 hammering by Portugal, closed ranks after the break and only substitute Kalou could break through."
